Puna Strong Art Wall Project

Updated: Dec 7, 2021

Kilauea Eruption Recovery on Facebook wrote: "Students at Kua O Ka Lā Public Charter School are assisting artist Anthony "Hawkeye" Dohanos with painting a mural at the school's new campus at Nani Mau Gardens.

The mural replaces several lost when the school's campus at Pū‘ala‘a was inundated with lava during the 2018 #Kīlauea eruption. Photo replicas of the original murals will be displayed along with the new mural -- titled "Kūlia i ka nu‘u" (strive for your highest potential) -- once it is finished.

The mural is one project funded with the help of the school's $13,430 Puna Strong grant. The grant money is sourced from the County's disaster recovery funds and Hawai‘i Community Foundation."
